Well, I actually visited over two months ago! But, I have been trying to get a lot of different things finshished and worked on. In a small feat, I have been able to put together the video clips which I recorded of some Hmong friends I made while in the quaint tourist town along the Viet Nam-China border. Here is the video, I hope it helps share their story a bit more. They are sincere people who have only started to go to school with the younger generation. All of them have learned English because of the backpacking foreigners-tourists that have visited them.
The pushy-ness and "tactics" used to try to get a visitor to buy more can sometimes be a bit stressful. Sometimes, it's downright rude and hard to take. However, when taking their history, situation, recources, and ability to "make ends meet" in the midst of all that is going on in the town - it is an amazing testimony to their spirit as a people-group.
May our Father continue to lead them and others through the main church in the center of town as well as to actually explore the truths that lie hidden within. It is a hope that the "market" will not take the place of the Creator of the market!
Enjoy!
